We are a summer and winter resort community. We have a population of about 18,000 in the winter and 50,000 in the summer. As the gateway to Yellowstone National Park, roughly two-thirds of the valley revenue is made in the summer season. In the winter, thousands of elk migrate to the National Elk Refuge, and horse-drawn sleighs take visitors to the heart of the herd to experience the elk behaviors and bugling.
Teton County Schools
Our school system is top notch! We have put two kids through k-12 and can honestly say Teton County School district is one of the best in the country. We have earned the Blue Ribbon award, and class sizes are small and individualized. The public school has a internet tracking system that tells you the day by day progress of your child. I tell my kids that Big Mother is watching! We also have 3 great private schools; the Jackson Community School, the Journeys School of the Teton Science Schools and the Jackson Hole Christian Acadamy. The Hathaway grant has raised the bar another notch with free tuition to all Wyoming colleges for our high school graduates.

As mentioned previoulsy, Jackson Hole is home to the largest herd of elk in North America. Thousands of elk winter at the National Elk Refuge. Moose and buffalo are common sights here with the Teton mountains as a back drop. Sitting above the National Elk Refuge is the National Museum of Wildlife Art. World famous artists exhibit their art, and private collections are displayed as well as traveling art shows.

Continued . . .
In the late 1800s and early 1900s, as more people settled in Jackson Hole, homesteads, cattle, fences, and farming had encroached on traditional elk migration pathways and wintering areas. Severe winters, reduced elk forage, and decreased habitat contributed to the starvation deaths of thousands of elk in Jackson Hole. While homesteaders and other locals needed to protect their domestic cattle herds and haystacks, they still wanted to have large, healthy elk herds in the valley.
As a result of persistent action by Jackson Hole residents, the State of Wyoming, and the U.S. Congress, the National Elk Refuge was established in 1912 to provide a protected wintering ground of 1,760 acres for the elk. Today, the Refuge encompasses nearly 25,000 acres.

Jackson downtown has an old west feel, with a board walk leading to a variety of boutique shops and amazing art galleries. The summer is home to the longest running shoot-out in America and guns are ablazing at 6:00 pm in the Town Square! Tour the town sitting atop the horse-drawn stagecoach, and grab a locally made sorbet or huckelberry candy. On Saturdays, the local Farmer's Market brings our locally grown produce to you, and in the winter the Town Square is the staging of the International Stage Stop Dog Sled Race across Wyoming.
Wyoming has no state income tax and modest property taxes. The state of Wyoming is in the black due to the gas,oil and minning industry revenues.
The Jackson Hole Airport can handle big jets and is equipped with every thing you need for your transportation needs.

This is going to be a great year for smart buyers in Teton County.
The Teton Pines Golf course homes are one of the best buys on the market due to the Teton Village build up.
Jackson does have employee housing but it is probably easier to get a job than housing.
The new tram & golf course have the market active. We expect this trend to continue on for next few years. Teton Village is small compared to mega resorts like Vail & Aspen.Teton Village has just started to build by mega resort standards.
